For mobile wireless broadband like with AT and T, T-mobile or Sprint: Yes, just the PCMCIA laptop connector card will do or use a smartphone — Nokia N95 or iPhone… etc.
For in home/office DSL/Cable modem: One might also need a wireless router/gateway/modem combo, but the provider usually UPS one for the customer.
